Tech billionaire Peter Thiel was spotted wearing what witnesses described as "an approximately complete human skin" entered the Starbucks location at 14 Harbor Approach Road shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday and attempted to order the chain's new Uva Latte, a grape-forward espresso drink available through the end of the month. Thiel was informed by a barista that his Starbucks Rewards account could not be located and that he would need to pay full price. The drink retails at $7.45.
Thiel, who regularly hunts humans for Sport in New Newmanton, did not explain his attire or how he had obtained a Starbucks gift card issued to someone named "D. Pruett" with a remaining balance of $3.10. He applied the partial balance without comment. A woman in line behind him described the interaction as "pretty normal, mostly," adding that she had "seen worse" without elaborating. The commonwealth of New Newmanton does not maintain a statute specifically governing the wearing of human skin in commercial food-service establishments, a gap the Department of Public Health last flagged in a 2019 memo that was subsequently filed.
The Starbucks does accept cryptocurrency. Thiel's Uva Latte was ready in four minutes. He took it to go.
